The Goat Island Boat Club, whose members reside around the shores of beautiful Lake Marion, has sponsored a merit scholarship program since 2008 to provide financial assistance to high school seniors residing in the counties surrounding the lakes and to college students majoring in environmentally focused areas.

For 2016, the Board of Directors has approved a $2000 scholarship award payable to the financial aid office of the academic institution in the name of the winner of our essay contest.

Applicants must be either (1) a graduating high school senior residing in one of the five counties that border Lakes Marion and Moultrie who will be attending an institution of higher learning in the fall of 2015 regardless of the field of study or (2) a student already enrolled in an institution of higher learning studying marine biology, forestry, fisheries, wildlife management, or other field focused on environmental protection and/or the Santee Cooper lake and river systems.

Please see the "Past Scholarship Winners" page for information on past recipients of our scholarship program.
